Play, achieve, enjoy sums up what LIVING SPORT does to encourage more sport and physical activity in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.

One of 49 County Sports Partnerships in the country, LIVING SPORT is currently supported by Sport England, the Government body responsible for getting sport into the community throughout the country. Though we are an independent company and a charity, we have links with other county sports partnerships, and various other partners with shared priorities such as health, community safety and regeneration.

LIVING SPORT is dedicated to getting everyone in Cambridgeshire physically active in a sport they love.
So how will LIVING SPORT achieve this?

Provide advice and support to sports clubs and centres, coaches and officials
This means that an increase in sporting activity is supported by good club links, coaching facilities and a volunteer force.

Developing elite athletes
The creation of programmes for early identification and subsequent development of talented athletes in the area.

Leading on London 2012 in the county
We want to make best use of this opportunity and realise the benefits the Olympics and Paralympics will bring to local communities and to businesses.

Becoming the definitive sports information hub
Building on existing relationships (and building new ones) with interested bodies throughout the county, for networking, conferences and information sharing such as a database of resources.

• Strategic co-ordination and planning of sporting and physical activity
By working with various partners across the county such as Primary Care Trusts, local charities and sports clubs, we want to improve sports facilities, set up new sporting programmes and develop activity programmes for the workplace.

Work with employers
Providing programmes and linking into activity in the workplace is something all employers must be interested in. Research has shown that rates of sickness and absenteeism fall with a fitter, happier workforce. It’s also a good opportunity to get a company league going and enjoy a little healthy competition!
We’re running a variety of campaigns at the moment getting people active, one of the most exciting is Get Back Into. Taking a ‘retro’ theme, the aim of the campaign is to get people back into a sport they once loved, or get them trying a sport they once loathed and get a new experience. Running across the East region with other County Sports Partnerships, it’s getting people active everywhere.
