Keeping your workforce
ready for change

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Skills for Life Partnership can offer a solution to this dilemma.

Keeping abreast of all the skill requirements in business is a major headache.

  • New technologies, changes in working practices and the ability to comply with training standards and new qualifications are what keep a business ahead of their competitors.

  • With this in mind it is doubly important that a company can build on the skills of existing employees, to meet changes in the workplace.
  • What can you do when your employees are skilled in their job role but are not ready to take on extra duties or are unprepared for a change in their role?
  • This is where Adult literacy and numeracy skills are paramount. The ability to adapt to new roles or new practices relies on a sound grasp of literacy and numeracy.

The Partnership has a specialist team of people who have worked free of charge with businesses to promote the Skills for Life agenda with workforces. Amongst other services they are able to provide free:

Skills for Life awareness training for workplace mentors.

The opportunity for team leaders to train to support other members of staff.

Free “Training at Work” days where employees can ask questions and enter competitions.

Free initial assessment of skills

Free short “in house” training courses for employees.

Free entry to National Tests at Level 1 and 2 for employees.

The advantages of having a workforce trained in literacy and numeracy to level 2 (The equivalent of GCSE grades A-C) are widely documented.

Reductions in wastage, increased productivity and better customer service have all been reported, together with reduced staff turnover.
